About

Mark Anthony Flores, born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, started his artistic career at an early age through graffiti. He quickly learned that expressing himself on canvas is much more profitable and much less risky. He created his first canvas in college where he dabbled in art while getting his degree in Media and Communications.

After graduating Mark began his career in media, working for a variety of Hispanic media outlets including the Chicago Tribune’s Spanish Newspaper, Hoy. Soon after, the United Neighborhood Organization recruited him to serve as the head of the communications department. Mark currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Illinois and as the Chairman/Commissioner of the Commission on Human Relations Latino Advisory Council for the City of Chicago. Mark is also the owner/founder of m?rk productions, an upscale Latino event promotions company.

Though he began painting in college, he never received classical training in art. As a self taught artist he began showing his work at local restaurants and clubs. He has done shows for the National Museum of Mexican Art where he displayed his work in an installation for the Day of the Dead exhibit for the 2007 opening of that show. Though Mark has displayed his work in a variety of Chicago locations through public and private showings, he held his first gallery show at La Llorona Gallery in December of 2007 through which he was scheduled to show in a National Mexican Gallery in 2009.
